I write to inform you of a wonderful educational programme which exists at our Faculty: the Diploma in English Law & Legal Skills (“DELLS”).
You will study core areas of English substantive law and a range of legal skills, taught in a practical way.
It is organised by the British Law Centre (“BLC”), an educational foundation based at the Law Faculty of Cambridge University, and taught by a team comprising experienced English academics and practitioners, supported by leading law firms.

I’m sure that you would find the course interesting, useful and enjoyable. Numerous students from our Faculty have already graduated the BLC course and really enjoyed their studies (😊). BLC graduates also include senior members of the EU’s Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights, and many other renowned international institutions and law firms.
Recruitment is underway and earlybird fee reductions apply until the end of June. The course starts at our Faculty in October 2026.

| Who teaches the Diploma? | The course is organised by the British Law Centre, an educational foundation based at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Law. Lecture and classes are delivered by an experienced teaching team of expert English lawyers. Additional workshops are available, taught by some of the BLC’s law firm partners.

| What will I learn? | · Core elements of English substantive law: the constitution and legal system; contract law; tort law; trusts law (plus elements of criminal law and civil/criminal procedure).
· You will acquire or improve a range of legal skills including: legal writing; oral presentations; negotiations; drafting; and advocacy.

| When does it begin/end? | October 2026 – June 2027
Each of the BLC’s locations has its own calendar, with precise dates indicated.

| How is it taught? | A combination of pre-recorded lectures, interactive classes, workshops and practical exercises, to teach you how to actively apply your legal knowledge to real-life scenarios. Our practical approach focuses on learning-by-doing, lively discussions, and continuous skills development.

| Where is it taught? | At our Faculty! The BLC teachers visit especially to teach the course. Some elements of the course are taught online.
|
| How many hours of study does it require? | There are 32 hours (8x4hr) small-group classes with BLC teachers. One class happens each month between October and May. Before classes, you can watch video lectures and read written materials on the BLC’s website, to help you prepare for class discussions. There are over 150 hours of lectures available if you watch them all, delivered by leading English lawyers and academics.

| How muchdoes it cost? | Earlybird students (who pay by 30 June) pay €750. Otherwise €850.
